Feast : Abraham, Father of All Nations; St. Denis, St. John Leonardi

Reading : Joel 3:12-21
Gospel : Luke 11: 27-28

Mission: To Keep And Obey God’s Word

“But he said: ‘Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it!’”
(Luke 11:28)

Apostolic Letter Patris Corde: At the end of every account in which Joseph plays a role, the Gospel tells us that he gets up, takes the child and his mother, and does what God commanded him (cf. Mat. 1:24; 2:14.21)

Abraham is known as the Father of all Believers. Why? Because of his obedience to God. He had a great faith. St. Paul pointed that Abraham is the Father to all Believers, not only to those circumcised, but also those who follow the faith of Abraham (Rom. 4:12). The source of our faith is Jesus, the Words. As the followers of Jesus, we are called to do the Lord’s words, not only reading but also conserving it. The word of Lord is like a torch, which can illuminate each path of our lives, giving guidance and strength, comfort and eternal life.

Today we commemorate Abraham as the Father of All Nations, St. Denis, St. John Leonardi. Three of them had been undoubtedly kept and carried out God’s words. They are the doers of the living God’s words. How about us? Are we willing to be the guard and doer of God’s words? Of course, as Jesus’ followers, we have to try to keep and do God’s words by any way we can do. Nowadays it is not difficult to get the reflection on God’s words. Every day we can spare our time a while to reflect and make reflection of how the God’s words live in our daily lives. Through everyday prayer and reflection we are enabled to be closer to God, know the loving heart of God.

In the first reading it is said that God is the Judge for His people. However, in any circumstances the God will always be the refuge for His people and stronghold for the people of Israel (cf. Joel 3:16b). God is always faithful to His chosen people. What does God want from His people? As the God is faithful, so we are expected to be faithful to Him too. Not only knowing or listening to His words, but we must also be the doer of God’s words. As Jesus said that the joyful are those who listen and keep His words, the doers of God’s words.

As the saints we are commemorating today are faithful to listen and keep the words of God, so is St. Joseph, the husband of Mother Mary. St. Joseph is faithful to God. He will do whatever God wants and tells Him to do, although it is difficult. The Apostolic Letter Patris Corde says: At the end of every story where Joseph is the main character, the Gospel says that he gots up, took the Son and His mother, and did as Gods commanded him to do (cf. Mat. 1:24; 2:14.21)

Let us imitate St. Joseph, Abraham, St. Denis and St. John Leonardi who were always faithful in listening and keeping God’s words by doing it with full responsibility. God’s word is like a torch in our life that gives direction, light and brings us to salvation.

Mission: God’s word is like a torch in our lives, we have to keep on guarding, maintaining and carrying it out. (YH)

MISSIONARY ROSARY PRAYER

JOYFUL MYSTERIES

  1. The Annunciation of the Angel to Mary
“Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee: fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.” (Luke 1:28b,30b-31)

Prayer is intended for the continent of Asia (yellow beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we come before You, asking for Your grace on our lives, our future, especially for our continent we are living in, the Continent of Asia. Send Your angels as You sent the Angel Gabriel to proclaim the good news of the birth of Your Son to Mother Mary. Enable us to be always grateful for the life You have granted and to rejoice in carrying out the mission that You give to each of us, so that we can be the witnesses of Your joyful tidings, like the Angel Gabriel. May Your joy fill the earth. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!

  1. The visitation of Mary to Saint Elizabeth
“Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” (Luke 1:42-43)

Prayer is intended for the Continent of Australia and Oceania (blue beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we pray especially for the Australia Continent and Oceania. When Mary visited Elizabeth, she came with love and good news about the coming of the Savior. The meeting eventually became the blessing for both babies in their wombs, and also for the coming mother. We also hope that You would come to visit your people in the Oceania-Australia Continent. Fill the heart of Your people in this continent with hope, so they can give strength and share the good news to each other, especially during the pandemic. And may Your people in this continent be able to take care of each other, as You have always been protecting us. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!

  1. The nativity of Jesus in Bethlehem
“And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” (Luke 2:7)

Prayer is intended for the Continent of Europe (white beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we want to present the Continent of Europe. Just like Mary and Joseph could not find a room in the inn, many of our brothers and sisters are currently stranded in adversities and helplessness. Cover this continent which has been experiencing a lot of loss and temptation with your blanket of love that are able to warm every soul. Prepare a safe shelter for all the needs. Shower your grace of joy in everyone’s heart so that every mouth can praise Your name as the God, the source of life and eternal joy. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!

  1. The presentation of Jesus to the Temple
Simeon said unto Mary, “Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against. Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul.” (Luke 2:34-35)

Prayer is intended for the continent of America (red beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we pray especially for the continent of America. We present this continent before You as the Baby Jesus was presented to You in the Temple. May the continent of America and the people living in there be renewed with Your Spirit. Grow the sense of solidarity, mercy, brotherhood and unity among them. Keep them away from arrogance, selfishness and the desire to dominate others. Enable this continent to build the pillars of prosperity for all creations and bring peace to the world, so that cheers of joy may echo throughout the world. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!

  1. The finding of Jesus in the Temple
“How is that ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? And they understood not the saying which he spoke unto them.” (Luke 2:49-50)

Prayer is intended for the continent of Africa (green beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we pray especially for our brothers and sisters in the continent of Africa. May every longing soul will find You in their seeking of You. For those who are lost and far from You due to suffering and adversities, may they be able to find the way back to you. Guide and bless every step so they may have strength, light of hope and joy of life. Teach every person to always lean on Your will and plan. Make them all Your living witnesses so Your name may be glorified and more souls could be saved. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.
