Mission: Be Obedient To Holy Spirit

“When they bring you before the synagogues, the rulers, and the authorities, do not worry about how you are to defend yourselves or what you are to say.”
(Luke 12:11-12)

Apostolic Letter Patris Corde: If at times God seems not to help us, surely this does not mean that we have been abandoned, but instead are being trusted to plan, to be creative, and to find solutions ourselves.

Dear missionary friends,
In today’s Gospel the Lord Jesus warns His disciples, including us, to beware of cowardice in professing himself as Christ follower and proclaiming the Gospel to be obedient to the Holy Spirit.

The Gospels says that the disciples will be acknowledged or denied on the Judgement Day according to their acknowledgement or denial to Jesus in their life. As the minority among the plurality of Indonesian society with non-Christian as the majority, it is not easy for us to admit ourselves as the disciples of Jesus. We seem to fear, especially when physical, psychological, verbal and non-verbal violences happen and are aimed at the disciples of Christ. In some places, people having worship are threatened by certain group who feel righteous and having act in the name of God. Disturbances are sent directly in person or through social media. The stigma of infidel is pinned on the followers of Christ. Mate matter and/or lure of wealth, career and position, security and comfort are more tempting and weaken the faith of some Christians, making them cowardly deny and even abandon Jesus Christ. A simple example, we sometimes feel ashamed to make the sign of cross before and after meal prayer.

Dare to admit ourselves as Christ’s disciples, to speak and behave in accordance with Jesus’ teaching is a form of militant faith. The strength of this faith is extended with the joy in proclaiming the Gospel both in words and action in our daily lives. This persistence of faith is not of our own work and guts, but instead is the work of Holy Spirit.

The Gospel indicates that obedience to the Holy Spirit will lead every disciples of Christ to bravely proclaiming the Gospel and to salvation. However, Holy Spirit is not a visible and easily “captured” person. Holy Spirit moves in silence and invisibility, yet we can feel Her power. Therefore, Holy Spirit is symbolized as the wind blowing where She wishes, gently goes into the soul, strongly pushes people to act. Due to Her moving in silence and invisibility, we need to persevere with inner working to reach good relationship with Her. This inner working is done with simple ways and persistently. We need to spend a “quality time” specially to have deeper intimacy with the Holy Spirit. We have to maintain and deepen our relationship with the Holy Spirit in living our up and down lives. We believe that the Holy Spirit will speak, guide and save us in our faith to Her.

Mission: The faith to God must be always maintained. Sometimes God seems not to help us when we are facing adversities and problems, yet believe that God will keep on working in every event of our lives. (NW)

MISSIONARY ROSARY PRAYER

JOYFUL MYSTERIES

  1. The Annunciation of the Angel to Mary
“Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee: fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.” (Luke 1:28b,30b-31)

Prayer is intended for the continent of Asia (yellow beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we come before You, asking for Your grace on our lives, our future, especially for our continent we are living in, the Continent of Asia. Send Your angels as You sent the Angel Gabriel to proclaim the good news of the birth of Your Son to Mother Mary. Enable us to be always grateful for the life You have granted and to rejoice in carrying out the mission that You give to each of us, so that we can be the witnesses of Your joyful tidings, like the Angel Gabriel. May Your joy fill the earth. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!

  1. The visitation of Mary to Saint Elizabeth
“Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” (Luke 1:42-43)

Prayer is intended for the Continent of Australia and Oceania (blue beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we pray especially for the Australia Continent and Oceania. When Mary visited Elizabeth, she came with love and good news about the coming of the Savior. The meeting eventually became the blessing for both babies in their wombs, and also for the coming mother. We also hope that You would come to visit your people in the Oceania-Australia Continent. Fill the heart of Your people in this continent with hope, so they can give strength and share the good news to each other, especially during the pandemic. And may Your people in this continent be able to take care of each other, as You have always been protecting us. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!

  1. The nativity of Jesus in Bethlehem
“And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” (Luke 2:7)

Prayer is intended for the Continent of Europe (white beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we want to present the Continent of Europe. Just like Mary and Joseph could not find a room in the inn, many of our brothers and sisters are currently stranded in adversities and helplessness. Cover this continent which has been experiencing a lot of loss and temptation with your blanket of love that are able to warm every soul. Prepare a safe shelter for all the needs. Shower your grace of joy in everyone’s heart so that every mouth can praise Your name as the God, the source of life and eternal joy. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!

  1. The presentation of Jesus to the Temple
Simeon said unto Mary, “Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against. Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul.” (Luke 2:34-35)

Prayer is intended for the continent of America (red beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we pray especially for the continent of America. We present this continent before You as the Baby Jesus was presented to You in the Temple. May the continent of America and the people living in there be renewed with Your Spirit. Grow the sense of solidarity, mercy, brotherhood and unity among them. Keep them away from arrogance, selfishness and the desire to dominate others. Enable this continent to build the pillars of prosperity for all creations and bring peace to the world, so that cheers of joy may echo throughout the world. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!

  1. The finding of Jesus in the Temple
“How is that ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? And they understood not the saying which he spoke unto them.” (Luke 2:49-50)

Prayer is intended for the continent of Africa (green beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we pray especially for our brothers and sisters in the continent of Africa. May every longing soul will find You in their seeking of You. For those who are lost and far from You due to suffering and adversities, may they be able to find the way back to you. Guide and bless every step so they may have strength, light of hope and joy of life. Teach every person to always lean on Your will and plan. Make them all Your living witnesses so Your name may be glorified and more souls could be saved. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.
