Mission: Showing Holiness In Daily Action

“You have been set free from sin. God has made you his slaves. The benefit you gain leads to holy living. And the end result is eternal life. When you sin, the pay you get is death. But God gives you the gift of eternal life. That’s because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done.”
(Rom. 6:22-23)

Apostolic Letter Patris Corde: Only tender love will save us from the snares of accuser (cf. Rev. 12:10). That’s why it is so important to encounter God’s mercy, especially in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, where we experience his truth and tenderness.

Someone said no one can reach the holiness for every human has made sin and wrong. What is the meaning of holiness? Holy means being pure, clean, undefiled. Holiness is purity. We have known the saints, they are holy people who have died and are beatified by Catholic Church. If someone can be a saint only after death, then can we live a holy life?

The Apostle Paul says in his letter to the Romans that after being freed from sin and enslaved to God, we get sanctification and the end is eternal life (cf. Rom. 6:22-23). Baptism is the moment of being sanctified, freed from any sins and reborn. However, freed from sin does not make us released from any weakness. We are reborn because our sins are erased, but our weakness is still in us. We are not instantly transformed into superhuman without weakness through baptism. It is our job to be processed in our weaknesses, to know, to accept and to control and manage them with the guidance from the Holy Spirit.

The path of holiness is not easy, yet it is the only path to eternal life. We have to struggle for holiness every day, every moment in our daily activity. We can not repeat the baptism every time we are sinned to get the sanctification. We only need to keep our behavior, deed and life away from sin. We present our weaknesses to the Lord, and let Him transform them.

In the path of holiness we have to first realize that we are not alone. We are walking together with the people of God to reach the same aim. To realize that everyone has the same condition, situation and struggle, we also have to remember that everyone has the same temptation and chance to be sinned. Therefore, we need to share the mercy that God has given to us. We need to extend the solidarity and forgiveness to our neighbors in need and to encourage each other in this journey, constantly strive for the truth in a gentle way, instead of harshness.

Christian calling is to live as God’s plan and will in His holiness. Let’s try and manifest this holiness in our daily life by living a healthy life, not only physically and mentally, but also spiritually. Have mercy, solidarity and forgiveness, as God wants from each of us.

Mission: Through baptism we are reborn, leaving our sin behind. We are called to live in accordance with God’s plan and will in his holiness. (BIL)
