Mission: Prioritizing The Weak, Poor, Marginalized And Disabled

“But when you are invited, go and sit down at the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he may say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher’: then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you.”
(Luke 14:10)

Apostolic Letter Patris Corde: Each of us can discover in Joseph – the man who goes unnoticed, a daily, discreet and hidden presence – an intercessor, a support and a guide in times of trouble.

Dear Missionary Friends,
We have known the word of VIP and VVIP. VIP (Very Important Person) is the privilege given to someone more honorable than ordinary people. VVIP (Very Very Important Person) is the highest privilege given to someone most honored. Those privileges are usually given to government officers, the elites or other important people. In some cases, the privilege is traded, so the wealthy can achieve it with their money. People are happy to get this privilege as it gives comfort, glory and honor. Today’s Gospel also says, “Guests are trying to sit in the most honorable seat.” Who does not want this honorable seats? Almost everybody desires a place of honor.

Everybody dreams of glory, greatness, privilege. We go to school from kindergarten to high education, then pursue a career. We work hard. All this effort is driven by the desire for success and glory in life. We know a proverb of “No pain, no gain”. People will be proud if they can elevate themselves and achieve big fame. They will be famous and respected. Yet, some people elbow and discredit each other for success, glory and honor. Parents expect their children to be successful and have glory. We are happy to be the first and cheered. But all those things tend to make us arrogant and easy to underestimate the others. That is what commonly happens in our life.

In today’s Gospel Jesus asks us to be humble. Everybody can have high and honored position, but being humble is more important. Humility is shown by caring the weak, poor, marginalized and disabled. When Jesus says, “When you are invited, go and sit down at the lowest place.”, He means to ask us to pay attention and care for the weak, poor, marginalized and disabled. “Go to the lowest place” also means to follow the incarnation in the Son of God. He is the God, yet would humble Himself to be human like us. He even took the form of a servant, suffered, tortured and crucified. Yet His Father accepted this act of humility by rising Him and granting Him glory.

Thus, let’s keep learning to be humble. We should pay more attention to the weak, poor, marginalized and disabled. We practice self-emptying in order for God to fill our lives with His abundant love.

Mission: God loves His people and knows the heart of each of us. We are called to be humble, let’s not stand out, not feeling super, but let the Lord exalt us in His way. God exalts the low, we are sent to show God’s love paying more attention to the weak, poor, marginalized and disabled. (NW)

DAILY DEDICATED PRAYER

Lord, our Father, I present my today prayer, thought, word, work, joy and sorrow in the unity with Your Son, Jesus Christ, who always presents Himself in the Eucharist for the world salvation. May the Holy Spirit, as the soul of Jesus, also lead and give me the strength today so that I am ready to be the witness of Your love.

Together with St. Mary, Mother of Jesus and the Church, I specially present my prayer to our Pope and Indonesian Church prayer apostles of this month:

For Evangelization intention:

For Indonesian Churches intention:
Clean water: May we be wiser in using the clean water. We pray…

Special Intention for the year of St. Joseph:
Give us an open heart, like St. Joseph, so we may love Mother Mary and her Son for the success of “missio” or mission of restoring human love in responding Father’s mercy. We pray…

Amen

MISSIONARY ROSARY PRAYER

JOYFUL MYSTERIES

  1. The Annunciation of the Angel to Mary
“Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee: fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.” (Luke 1:28b,30b-31)

Prayer is intended for the continent of Asia (yellow beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we come before You, asking for Your grace on our lives, our future, especially for our continent we are living in, the Continent of Asia. Send Your angels as You sent the Angel Gabriel to proclaim the good news of the birth of Your Son to Mother Mary. Enable us to be always grateful for the life You have granted and to rejoice in carrying out the mission that You give to each of us, so that we can be the witnesses of Your joyful tidings, like the Angel Gabriel. May Your joy fill the earth. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!

  1. The visitation of Mary to Saint Elizabeth
“Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” (Luke 1:42-43)

Prayer is intended for the Continent of Australia and Oceania (blue beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we pray especially for the Australia Continent and Oceania. When Mary visited Elizabeth, she came with love and good news about the coming of the Savior. The meeting eventually became the blessing for both babies in their wombs, and also for the coming mother. We also hope that You would come to visit your people in the Oceania-Australia Continent. Fill the heart of Your people in this continent with hope, so they can give strength and share the good news to each other, especially during the pandemic. And may Your people in this continent be able to take care of each other, as You have always been protecting us. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!

  1. The nativity of Jesus in Bethlehem
“And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” (Luke 2:7)

Prayer is intended for the Continent of Europe (white beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we want to present the Continent of Europe. Just like Mary and Joseph could not find a room in the inn, many of our brothers and sisters are currently stranded in adversities and helplessness. Cover this continent which has been experiencing a lot of loss and temptation with your blanket of love that are able to warm every soul. Prepare a safe shelter for all the needs. Shower your grace of joy in everyone’s heart so that every mouth can praise Your name as the God, the source of life and eternal joy. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!

  1. The presentation of Jesus to the Temple
Simeon said unto Mary, “Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against. Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul.” (Luke 2:34-35)

Prayer is intended for the continent of America (red beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we pray especially for the continent of America. We present this continent before You as the Baby Jesus was presented to You in the Temple. May the continent of America and the people living in there be renewed with Your Spirit. Grow the sense of solidarity, mercy, brotherhood and unity among them. Keep them away from arrogance, selfishness and the desire to dominate others. Enable this continent to build the pillars of prosperity for all creations and bring peace to the world, so that cheers of joy may echo throughout the world. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!

  1. The finding of Jesus in the Temple
“How is that ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? And they understood not the saying which he spoke unto them.” (Luke 2:49-50)

Prayer is intended for the continent of Africa (green beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we pray especially for our brothers and sisters in the continent of Africa. May every longing soul will find You in their seeking of You. For those who are lost and far from You due to suffering and adversities, may they be able to find the way back to you. Guide and bless every step so they may have strength, the light of hope and joy of life. Teach every person to always lean on Your will and plan. Make them all Your living witnesses so Your name may be glorified and more souls could be saved. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!
