Weekly Missionary Reflection
14th Ordinary Sunday, 07 July 2024
Eze. 2:2-5; Ps. 123:1-2a,2bcd,3-4; 2Cor. 12:7-10; Mark 6:1-6
There are moments when we are made complacent and uneasy to accept new things by the routine, something common or we have known well. In today’s Gospel reading Jesus also experienced such a situation. The folk of His hometown was astonished at what happened to Him. The person they knew as the son of a carpenter at once showed up with the teachings and mighty deeds that were new to them. “Where did this man get all this? What kind of wisdom has been given him? What mighty deeds are wrought by his hands?” (Mark 6:2)
The rejection of His folk made Jesus sad. It is not primarily because of the rejection, but because His folk blocked themselves from the Kingdom of God that He offered. “So he was not able to perform any mighty deed there, apart from curing a few sick people by laying his hands on them.” (Mark 6:5). True love can not be forced. Despite God’s great love for humans, He offers full freedom for acceptance or rejection.
Dear beloved sisters and brothers, those common and familiar things often block our inner eyes. Routine and ordinary sometimes make us reluctant to grow and accept new things. The Incarnation mystery of Jesus Christ, God becomes flesh, also means that God is truly present in our lives, even in every routine and ordinary in our daily lives. Let us humbly pray for the Spirit of Wisdom, so that through His guidance we are enabled to realize the presence of God in our daily lives and routines. Through encounters with family members, communities and our neighbors, our faith in Jesus Christ will always be renewed. God bless.

DAILY DEDICATED PRAYER
Lord, our Father, I present my today prayer, thought, word, work, joy and sorrow in the unity with Your Son, Jesus Christ, who always presents Himself in the Eucharist for the salvation of the world. May the Holy Spirit animating Jesus, also be my guidance and strength today so that I am ready to be the witness of Your love.
Together with Mary, Mother of Jesus and the Church, in particular I present my prayer for our Pope and apostle prayer of Indonesian Church of this month:
Universal Church Intent: For the pastoral care of the sick
We pray that the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick confer to those who receive it and their loved ones the power of the Lord and become ever more a visible sign of compassion and hope for all.
Indonesian Church Intent: For alternative education
We pray that the society will increasingly understand the uniqueness of each child so that they can be opened to any forms of alternative education that is most suitable to contribute the grow and development of children.
Amen.
