Mission: Relying on God’s Power

“But He knew that they were thinking and said to them, ‘Every kingdom divided against itself becomes a desert, and house falls on house.’”
(Luke 11:17)

Apostolic Letter Patris Corde: The Holy Family had to face concrete problems like every other family, so many of our migrant brothers and sisters who, today too, risk their lives to escape misfortune and hunger.

Jeanny Bigard is a girl with serving heart. From her childhood she learned from her mother to serve the Church and to love others. However, she experienced a deep grief when her father passed away, because he didn’t receive the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. From this event she realized the importance of the calling of a priest. She started to rise and develop the Vocational Union. In the effort of developing this union, she met a lot of obstacles. But she realized that she had gained strength in prayer. She had God to rely on and the source of her strength in continuing her struggle.

Her wealth and energy were dedicated only to God in her work. Until she reached the moment when she could no longer continue her work, she could only pray: “Dear God, I can no longer continue this work, I am nothing, into Your hands I commend myself and all the work, as You are the one who is able to do to everything”.

Jeanne Bigard is an example of a believer who relies on the power of God. Therefore, we, as the disciples of Jesus, are demanded to have strong faith, surrender ourselves to Him. Through prayer and His words, we know God who loves us. He is where we rely on and to gain strength. God is the source of our hope to keep looking forward. There is always beautiful hope, a better life and salvation that only comes from Him.

In today’s Gospel, it is that Jesus casted out the demon by Beelzebul. Some demanded a sign from heaven and would like to test Him. But Jesus knew what they were thinking, therefore He said: “Every kingdom divided against itself becomes a desert, and house falls on house” (Luke 11:17). Jesus casted a demon by the power of God. Because of Jesus, God makes Himself present to us. Jesus has the power on Beelzebul, the head of demons. Beelzebul listened to the command of Jesus as Jesus is the God reigning on human beings and all creature and because God is the only one who has the power on all demons. How about us, the children of God, can we defeat the demon in ourselves?

Jesus says: “Whoever is not with Me is against Me, and whoever does not gather with Me scatters.” It is clear if we are with Him, we are on His side. With Jesus we are stronger, our house is well-armed where no one can enter to control us. If we are separated from Jesus, evil will come to control ourselves. Which shall we select? To gather with Jesus, or be separated from Him?

As the followers of Jesus, we need to be united with Him. When we are united and rely on His strength, we will be enabled to face any obstacles, temptation and sufferings, especially during the pandemic of Covid-19 which scares and worries us.

Today we really need the power from God. He is where we rely on to get strength everyday. Only in God we have new hope. He is our guide in facing any challenges and trials, as experienced by Jeanne Bigard and also the family of Nazareth.

In the Apostolic Letter Patris Corde it’s said: The holy family has to face the concrete problems as other families, as the migrants who risk their life due to the misfortune and famine. The Nazareth family struggled and asked the strength from God in any hard time.

Mission: To build the inner attitude to rely on the will and strength from God. (YH)

MISSIONARY ROSARY PRAYER

SORROWFUL MYSTERIES

  1. The Agony of Jesus in the Garden
“O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” (Matt. 26:39)

Prayer is intended for the continent of Asia (yellow bead)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we pray for our people living in the continent of Asia, who have experienced many problems during this pandemic. Many fall into sadness, despair and are unable to face the loss of job, property or the beloved one. Just as Jesus was willing to surrender and pray to You near His death, grant us the grace of faith and self surrender to everyone in our continent. Enable us to realize that in the time of trials like this, we have to remember to surrender to You and persevere in prayer, so that our hope and faith can remain firm and alerted.
We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amin.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!

  1. The Scourging of Jesus at the pillar
“They smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him. And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from Him, and put his own clothes on him.” (Mark 15:19-20a)

Prayer is intended for the continent of Australia and Oceania (blue beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we pray for your people in the continent of Oceania-Australia. May You give strength and comfort to those who are persecuted for their faith in You. Despite of being scourged, mocked, spat on, beaten, even stripped naked, He just kept silent, no repaying the evil with evil, because of the great love in Him. May this example be able to be copied by every one who experiences suffering and injustice from their fellow people. And may You grant every human being with the heart of mercy, so they can treat each other with love, respect and justice. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!

  1. The Crowning with Thorns
“They platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head. And began to salute him, Hail King of the Jews!” (Mark 15:17-18)

Prayer is intended for the Continent of Europe (white beads)
Father, with Mary, Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we pray for your people in the continent of Europe. Sometimes sufferings and traumatic experiences become an obstacle to human’s faith to keep on believing that You are always with them and their lives. Jesus, Your Son, is not missed from the suffering caused by humans, despite he possesses the status of the Son of the King. Learning from Him, may all the people in the continent of Europe are enabled to survive from the suffering and traumatic events that they have to pass while remaining firm in their faith, believing that You will never abandon your People. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!

  1. The Carrying of the Cross
“And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha.” (John 19:16b)

Prayer is intended for the continent of America (red beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we pray for your people in the continent of America. May they be enabled to faithfully carry the cross of life in the world. Cross is sometimes rejected and avoided. We, the humans, tend to find the happiness, prosperity and eternity, instead of suffering, adversity and death. Jesus Himself carried His cross in faith and obedience for He believed and accepted all Your will. May the people of America who believe in Christ be ready to face the cross, suffering and death, accepting the cross as inseparable part of the identity as a Christian. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!

  1. The Crucifixion and death of Jesus
“And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father into thy hands I comment my spririt; and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.” (Luke 23:46)

Prayer is intended for the continent of Africa (green beads)
Father, with Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all nations, we pray for your people in the continent of Africa. Lately many deaths happened caused by Covid-19 pandemic. Death is often seen not only as a loss but also a bad incident. Humans are attached too tightly to their lives and the possessions, that they become stuttered when it’s time for letting go and returning all the possessions to You, the Owner of Life. May You enable Your people in the continent of Africa especially those who suffer from the loss of their closed ones, to accept the death and remember that eternal life You promises is not from the world, but in heaven in our next life. We believe that life is not destroyed by death, but it is transformed. We ask this through the intercession of Lord Christ and our Savior. Amen.

Mary Mother of Evangelization, Mother of all Nations, pray and protect us, your children!
